FAQ

What is Warm Wales - Bringing warm homes to Neath Port Talbot?
It's the first scheme of its kind in Wales. It brings together different organisation like your council, National Grid and npower, with the aim of cutting your fuel bills and making your home warmer.

Won't this be expensive? Will I have to pay?
Your council has worked with National Grid and npower to find funds for this service. That means you won't have to pay a penny.

How do I know if I qualify for help?
We'll be sending our team around to ask you some questions which will help us work out if you qualify. Although some of the information we ask for is personal, it's important you give us the answers so we can work out if you're entitled to any grants. We promise that we won't pass on this information without your permission.

What if I don't qualify for any help?
Even if you don't qualify for any grants, we will still be able to give you some tips on making your home more energy efficient. Everyone who helps us complete the survey and signs it will recieve some energy efficient light bulbs worth more than £15 *. In addition, we offer all households the chance to have big discounts on home insulation measures.

What sort of things could I get help with?
If you qualify, you could get help with things like cavity wall and loft insulation, hot water tank jackets and perhaps even improved central heating, too.

If I fill in the survey, what happens next?
If you qualify for work to be done, a surveyor will visit you to see exactly what needs to be done. Our contractor will then get in touch with you to arrange when the work can take place. It's as simple as that!

How long will this take?
It will depend upon what work needs to be done. But we hope that any work can be carried out within a few weeks after the survey.

I live in a council house. Will I still qualify?
Yes. Neath Port Talbot council is a major partner in this scheme and we'll be working closely with them.

I live in a rented house or flat. Will my landlord let us have the work done if we qualify?
We will contact your landlord to tell them about the free offer. If they give permission, we can do the work for you. Where you do not qualify for the free work, our contractors can offer a discount to your landlord.

Can I get a grant to help me pay my fuel bill?
No. But our team can help you to find out if there are any other benefits that you can claim.

How will I know who you are when you call?
Our staff will all have had police checks and will wear a distinctive red and black uniform with the scheme's dragon logo. They will carry identity cards. Please ask to see this identity card before allowing anyone into your home.

*Note: Energy efficiency funding regulations permitted us to issue 4 low energy light bulbs per household at the start of this project. These regulations have been altered and we now issue 2 low energy light bulbs to each participating household.
